| Position Overview |
Basic Functions: Supervise staff in conducting structural analyses and product life predictions for Gas Turbine Engine components. Requires thorough knowledge of gas turbine engine structural analyses plus general understanding of the mechanical integrity and lifing fields including aerospace state-of-the-art tools and methods.

Responsibilities include coordinating activities, analyze and resolve a variety of complex problems and support the planning and development of new programs. Significant latitude to take independent actions, make decisions and recommend and implement changes. Interprets and applies company policy, leads supporting staff and provides guidance in resolving unique or controversial mechanical integrity and lifing matters in concert with director. Significant interface with other groups and external organizations, including customers, Company R&D network and other company R&D centers.
Supervisory position encompasses similar level of responsibility with primary emphasis on managing human and physical resources, and leading or performing duties that contribute significantly to the group’s effectiveness.
Essential Functions: Responsibilities: HR management of mechanical integrity group of approximately 8 people. This includes tracking head count, conducting personal discussions and determining appropriate training programs of employees, build up group skill level to decrease design team and to improve technology level. Provide trained skilled staff to work in component design or technology development teams and contribute to their success by monitoring and coaching Finite element analysis – ABAQUS & ANSYS Model generation and pre-/post-processing – CAE, ANSYS, & I-DEAS Life time prediction of turbine parts (e.g., blades, vanes, heat shields, structural parts, rotors) – TMF/LCF, HCF, creep, corrosion, oxidation, and deformation (input for clearance calculation) Interdisciplinary work with Aero, Cooling, Design, Materials Support for Field inspections, Investigations and Reconditioning Definition of test programs (specimen, component, test engine, field) Definition of allowable bench test frequencies Calibration of calculations & lifing methods based on field experience, test engine, specimen & component tests Tool development (design system methods, lifing) Design criteria Documentation Other duties as assigned Deliverables: Design review documentation Turbine Part Documentation (production & non-production documents) Monthly updated development schedule for MI department including manpower forcast
Perform all personnel management and supervisory functions, including: Performance evaluations Salary & bonus planning Manpower planning Coordination with parallel leadership elsewhere in the ALSTOM organization

| Requirements |
Minimum Requirements Candidate must meet the Minimum Requirements for the job: Education BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
Skills/Experience 15 years experience in gas- or steam turbine engineering or equivalent. Strong thermodynamic, design, and mechanical integrity background and knowledge of gas turbine process. Data acquisition and evaluation experience Strong presentation and communication skills Proficient on personal computer and MS office software English fluent and German as preferred 2nd language
